The archive of the Vienna University of Technology (TUWA) keeps the administrative and scientific heritage of the university and its institutional predecessors since its foundation in 1815. It includes documents written on paper, in digital and audiovisual form as well as a small photographic collection.

The main responsibilities of the university archive are

to preserve and make accessible the archival fonds,
to offer support to the university administration as well as to public users,
to initiate activities for public outreach like exhibitions and publications relating to the archival fonds,
to do research on the history of the institution, its scholars and students,
to observe legal developments relating to relevant matters like data protection, copyright, access to information rights etc.
