The bachelor's degree

In the bachelor's course, a sound, methodical scientific and engineering knowledge is imparted, primarily in the foundational and core subject areas. This foundational theoretical knowledge develops analytical and interdisciplinary thinking and spatial awareness as well as abstraction and modelling skills. The course teaches engineering, problem-solving and social skills.

The master's degree

Successful completion of the bachelor's course opens up the possibility of choosing one of the three master's degree courses or the inter-departmental Material Sciences master's course, which provide deeper and more specialised knowledge in a sub-area of civil engineering. You can also decide to continue your studies at a different university or enter professional life.  
The comprehensive foundational knowledge and the ability to successfully implement theoretical knowledge in practical tasks means that development opportunities in many different areas are open to civil engineers.
Graduates are trained to take on responsibility in leadership positions and are able to work creatively in an interdisciplinary team or to lead such a team in a responsible way, as well as presenting their work effectively using contemporary means.

Career prospects

The wide-ranging fields of activities of our graduates are characterised by complex and varied tasks and interdisciplinary cooperation. Civil engineers are responsible for shaping our technical environment. They plan construction projects, play a crucial role in their implementation and develop measures to maintain fundamental systems for sustainable organisation of human settlements and industry. They plan and implement measures for protecting the environment and preventing disasters. Their professional life is spent in engineering companies, construction companies, in the building materials industry and the public sector as well as in universities and other research institutions.
