Welcome to the Institute of Applied Physics

Research at the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP) ranges from purely experimental work in the fields of atomic and plasma physics, biophysics, surface physics, interfacial physics, laser and ultrasound applications, to computational solid state physics.

Our institute excels in both fundamental and applied research, often conducted in close collaboration with industrial partners. Our scientific results are published in highly respected journals (Science, Nature, Physical Review Letters, ...). Research at the forefront of physics also provides excellent opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art methods and techniques.

More information can be found in the overview of our research areas.
